Wendall 'Barney' Wise

Danville - Wendall “Barney” Wise, 91, of Danville, passed away on April 14, 2014. He was born August 05, 1922 in Penfield, IL the son of Lloyd and Rosella Clark Wise. He married Julia Wright on August 25, 1946 in Armstrong, IL. He is survived by his Wife, Julia; his daughter, Gayle (Don) Anderson; his grandchildren Eric Anderson and Julie Stillwell; and his great grandchildren, Ryan Stillwell, Rachel Stillwell, and Frances Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Durward, Delmar, Harlan, and Byron; and his sister, Gwendolyn. Barney graduated from Armstrong High School in 1941 and served in the Army in the South Pacific from 1943-46. He graduated from Illinois State University in 1949. After graduation, He worked as a U.S. postal carrier in Danville until his retirement in 1978. He later worked for six years at Danville Floral and then at Sears Department Store until his retirement in 2011. A memorial service celebrating Barneys life will be held at 3pm on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. A visitation will be held on Saturday May 3, 2014 from 2pm to 3pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Barneys name to the St. James United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
