Wayne West

Newport, Ind. -- Wayne West, 85, of Newport, Indiana, passed away at 3 a.m. EST Saturday, February 13, 2010 at The Waters of Clinton in Clinton, Indiana. He was born September 16, 1924 in Vermillion County, Indiana, the son of the late Ralph and Flossie Marie Foreman West. Survivors include two daughters, Charlene(Dave)Dunham and Freda(John)Switzer both of Cayuga, Indiana; one son, Dale(Judy)West of Brazil, Indiana; special friend, Vickie Juvinall of Newport, Indiana; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Paul(Ruth)West of Newport, Indiana and Leiton(Glenda)West of Cayuga, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Callahan. Wayne was a retired operator at St. Mary of the Wood's College in West Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving with the United States Army. He was a member of the Newport American Legion Post #184. Wayne was a 1942 graduate of Newport High School. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening. Graveside services and burial: 2 p.m. EST Monday, February 15, 2010 at Miller Cemetery in Lodi, Indiana. Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey. There will be no visitation. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
