Wayne 'Sonny' Sergent

Wayne R “Sonny” Sergent Sr, 79 of Sidell, Illinois; formally of Westville, Illinois finished his journey on this earth and headed home to be with the love of his life Patty at 4:50 pm on December 12, 2014. Wayne was born July 11, 1935 in Danville, Illinois to Alice Mullins and Wayne Bailey Sergent. He married his best friend Patricia “Patty” Ann Felts in August 1966. She preceded him in death on May 27, 1990. Wayne was loved by all who knew him and will be remembered most for his love of driving. Wayne's love began with stock car racing and he was an icon on the stock car circuit within the entire area. He moved on later in life to become the “premier limo driver” working for his son Chuck's limo business K.C. Express. He also spent time behind the wheel driving school buses for the Westville School Dis-trict. He concluded his driving career in June 2013 when he retired from transporting senior citizens for Danville Township. Wayne enjoyed bowling, golfing, spending quality time with his son Chuck, and cruising the streets of Sidell on his golf cart. Wayne loved to spend his spare time chatting with friends at Sonny's Corner Cafe, the place in which his son Chuck and Daughter-in-law Julie named after him as a tribute. Wayne will be missed by many including his four sons Chuck (Julieanne) Sergent, John (Christy) Brumfield, Doug (Nancy) Brumfield, Dan (Deb) Brumfield. Two daughters Debie Sergent and Deb Brumfield. Twelve Grandchildren Joey Sergent, Jordyn (Brandon) Richardson, Jessica (Nathan) McGee, Jonathan (Breeann) Brumfield, Angela Brumfield, Christian Brumfield, Justin Brumfield, Bruce “BK” (Wendy Jo) Biage, Starla Biage, Courtney Brumfield, Justin Sergent, and Tammy Jean Wilson. Thirteen great grandchildren Keaton and Kelsey Richardson, Zoe and Kinslee McGee, Ty and Ava Brumfield, Auna and Bella Biage, Lexi Biage, Josiah Biage, Ashtyn and Addisyn Brumfield and Alayna Smalley. One sister, Charlene Warner, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Special friends Ronnie Russell (cousin) and Sandi Lappin will miss having Sunday lunch with Wayne. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patty, son Wayne R Sergent Jr, Grandson Josh Biage, and sister Jody King. A celebration of Sonnys Life will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State Street, Westville. Pastor Tim Pearman will be officiating. Burial will fol-low at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville. Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2014 from 3:00 -8:00 PM at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel.
