Covington, IN- Wayne S. Holycross, 86, of Covington, passed away at 11:05 AM on Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Vincent's Williamsport Hospital. He was born on March 26, 1926 in Bismarck, IL to Ernest Norman and Opal A. Meeker Holycross. He married Margaret L. Van Dame on June 20, 1947 in Covington. She survives. Also surviving are six children, Donna (Duane) Lathrop of Covington, Sharon (Mike) Falletti of Covington, Connie (Terry) Boersma of Brownsburg, IN, Jackie Kempen of Covington, Kenny (Rose) Holycross of West Lebanon, and Lyle Holycross of Danville; two brothers, Dean Holycross of Danville and Robert Holycross of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Beulah Denison of Danville; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren; and special friends, Burt and Bob Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Floyd and Paul Holycross. Wayne served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He worked as a brick layer and was a 50 year member of the Brick Layer's Union. Wayne was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church, enjoying traveling, and loved to spend time with his family. A service to celebrate the life of Wayne Holycross will be held at 11 AM EST on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Maranatha Baptist Church at 1111 Harriston St. in Covington. Pastors Ken Jones, Scott McCurdy, and Matt Harmless will officiate. Burial will follow at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, IL. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM EST on Monday, January 14 at Sunset's Covington Chapel. Memorials may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church.
