Wayne Edward Holdrieth Wayne Edward Holdrieth, 79, of Tilton, IL passed away at 2:32 am on Monday, March 3, 2008 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, IL. Wayne was born on October 30, 1928 in Westville, IL, the son of Jacob and Marie (Alm) Holdrieth. On September 30, 1948 Wayne married Betty J. Harper. They were married 57 years before she preceded him in death. Survivors include one brother Jack Holdrieth of Denver, Co., nieces Sally (Tom) Cox, Regina (Terry) Sherman, nephew Thomas (Jewell) Cox, Jr., great nieces Kathryn Cox, Ashley Cox, Katrina (son Matthew) Sherman, and Kathleen Sherman, and one great nephew Daniel Cox. Wayne was preceded in death by one sister Rita Baumgard and an infant son. In January of 1946, Wayne chose to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy in which he was active during WWII. Besides his country, Wayne also loved artwork, becoming a ceramic and art instructor. His creations were put on display at several art and craft festivals, and later adorned many walls where they brought joy to those who admired them. Besides an accomplished artist, Wayne also raised and showed poodles. His love for dogs led him to become a dog groomer, practicing the trade at his own Jaynairs Kennel. A celebration of life for Wayne Edward Holdrieth will take place on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home located at 3550 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Interment at Springhill Cemetery will follow the services. Reverend James Blue will be officiating. Because of his canine compassion, memorials may be made in Waynes name to the Humane Society.
