Wayne E. Anderson

Wayne E. Anderson, 88, of Danville passed away on August 21, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born on November 19, 1929 in Perrysville, IN the son of Charles and Bessie (Coleman) Anderson. He married Cora Alcorn in Westville, IL and she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his loving companion for over 30 years, Jean Starkey. Wayne will be missed by his son, Jerry (Pam) Alcorn of Tilton, IL, sisters; Helen (Keith) Hollingsworth of Perrysville, IN and Linda (David) Bodine of Rossville, IN, grandchildren, Todd and Angie Alcorn, great granddaughter, Jessica Alcorn, great-great grandson, Gino Long, several nieces and nephews and one special friend, Glenda Ford. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, companion, sister, Ruth Shelato, brother, Frank Anderson, daughter-in-law, Jean Alcorn and great grandson, Michael Alcorn. Wayne served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and was a lifetime member of the Danville V.F.W. He worked at the United States Post Office for over 30 years until his retirement. He loved to go fishing, play dominos, keep his house, yard and cars very clean and kept up. Wayne also enjoyed going out to listen to music and playing his luck at the Riverboat Casino in Peoria, IL. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 24, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Ronnie Crawford officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Oakhill Cemetery in Danville. Memorials can be made in his name to the Danville V.F.W. 8 Pine St. Danville, IL 61832.
