Danville - Wanda S. Pruitt, 89, of Danville, passed away peacefully at 11:09 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. She was born on November 14, 1927, in Danville, to Claude and Hildegard (Voigt) Southard. She married Roderick O. Pruitt in December 1950. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Robert) Abbrederis of Brookfield, WI; two sons, Michael (Deborah) Pruitt of Culpepper, VA, and Martin Pruitt of Danville; two daughters-in-law, Annmarie Wilson of Westville and Rosemarie Pruitt of Port Orchard, WA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by two sons, Roderick O. Pruitt II of WA and Timothy Pruitt of Westville; brother, Raymond Southard; and sister, Naomi Correll. Wanda was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran Grade School and then from Flower Technical H.S. (Chicago) in 1946. She was a retired school bus driver, serving Danville and Westville for a combined total of 20 years. She was an avid gardener and traveler. Later in life, she enjoyed attending Trinity Eunice Society and UAW Local 579 GM Retirees meetings. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Wanda Pruitt will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville. Memorials in Wanda's name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
