Wanda Rovine Hughes

Wanda Rovine Hughes passed this life at 6:07am, Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville. She was born on March 8, 1920, to Neva & Carl Meece. She was united in marriage to Claude Leslie Hughes on December 30, 1950 in Piggott, Arkansas. She will be dearly missed by: her sons, Leslie Gilbert (Donna) Hughes of Covington, IN, & Claude LeRoy (Zella Fay) Hughes of Oakwood; her six grandchildren, Desiree Rovine (Tim) Rice of Danville, Salena Victorine (Douglas) Jones of Westville, Crystal Lee Hughes of Los Angeles, CA, Christopher LeRoy Hughes of Charleston, IL, Rob (Misty) Hughes of Covington, IN, & Bill Hughes of Covington, IN; and her nine great grandchildren, Brooke Hughes, Gage, Chase & Brianna Hughes, Madison, Elijha, & Ean Jones, and Macenzie & Ezra Rice. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Claude Leslie; her brother, Gilbert Meece; her sister, Dorothy Hafner; and her two great grandchildren, Gracie Joy Jones & Gabriel Jones. Wanda worked for Dutchmaid Fashions for many years. She was an active member of the Gao Grotto Club. Wanda enjoyed her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards & traveling. She and her late husband, Claude, completed seven cruises together and visited many places including Italy & Ireland. Wanda will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Mary Edwards for the wonderful care she gave their Mother. Also, the family would like to thank the caring nurses & staff at the Hawthorne Inn for their kind help with their Mother. A celebration of Wanda's life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Southside Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Kent Pitcher officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8pm, Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
