Wanda L. Buchanan, 85, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 1:22 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Wanda was born May 16, 1939 in Westville, the daughter of the late Angelo and Florence (Sandlin) Frankino.

On August 9, 1958, Wanda married the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Buchanan. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around perseverance, hard work, and above all, family. Wanda was the proud mother of three children: Shelly (Norman) Jenkins, Thomas (Scott) Buchanan, and Sandy (John) Hart.

Wanda graduated from Westville High School in 1957. She was employed at the Westville Community Federal Credit Union , Spring Valley Associates, and then Brookhaven Apartments until her retirement in 2024. She was known for her feisty spirit, impeccable appearance, and unwavering work ethic.

Wanda enjoyed every moment spent surrounded by her loved ones, especially around the swimming pool. She enjoyed shopping, going to the “boat” to gamble and in her younger years, square dancing. She was a resilient and determined woman, instilling those values in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Wanda is survived by her three children; her brother, Emile (Ellen) Frankino of Pekin, IL; grandchildren Corissa Jenkins, Nathan (Lyndsey) Jenkins, Joshua Mingee, Alec (Michelle) Hart, and Rayn Hart; great-grandchildren Nash, Noah, and Sloan Jenkins, Rylee and Austyn Mingee, and Havyn and Kylan Hart, special family Mark and Chris McDaniels; grandchildren Nicholas (Lisa) McDaniels and Bryan (Jamie) McDaniels; great- grandchildren Alexis (Jared) Vandevanter, Aidyn McDaniels, Nastia Devore and Sophia McDaniels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Tom, and brothers, John and William Shaw.
