Wanda Alice Long

Tilton - Wanda Alice Long, 89, of Tilton passed away at 1:40 pm on Saturday August 26, 2017 at her home in Tilton. Wanda was born on October 3, 1927 the daughter of Norman and Nola Mary (Barbre) Hutchcraft in Burnt Prairie, IL. She married James Long on October 14, 1972 in Catlin, IL and he survives. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, James Long, of Tilton, four sons, "Drew" (Vicki) Rush of Danville, IL, Steve Long of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Jeff (Katie) Long of Tucson, AZ, and Bruce (Marie) Long of Covington, IN, three daughters, Jewell Johnson of Tilton, IL, Kathleen (Jeff) Taylor of Danville, IL and Lisa (Sean) Wilkus of Westville, IL, one brother, Charles Hutchcraft of Stewardson, IL and one sister Charlene Harvey of Carmi, IL, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Cassius A. Rush, Jr, one brother, J.D. Hutchcraft and two sisters Wilma Puckett and Norma Little. Wanda practiced the Unity Faith and was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary. She retired from Illiana Heat Treating in 1989 where she worked in the office as a secretary for many years. Wanda was a hairdresser, as well as taught students at a beauty school, and had obtained her real estate license. In her free time, she enjoyed dancing, painting, sketching, reading and even just two week ago, sat and played the piano in her home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 31st at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion Street Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday August 30, 2017 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
