Walter 'Walt' Pigg

Walter Walt' Pigg, 83, of Oakwood, passed away at 7:55pm, Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at his home. He was born on November 21, 1931, the son of William and Goldie (Daniels) Pigg. On June 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Beverly Jarred in Chrisman, IL, and enjoyed 64 years together. Walt was a tenant farmer before going in the service. He served in US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955 in Battery B 593rd Field Artillery. He also served in the Army Reserves until discharged in 1961. Walt worked at Western Brick, later Tee-Pak, and retired from Illinois Department of Transportation in 1991 after 26 years. Walt was a member of the Chrisman American Legion Post #477 and Lions Club of Indianola. He was also a member of the Chrisman Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder and then recently a member of the Catlin Church of Christ. He loved making old western four wheeled wagons and fishing. Walt enjoyed working in his yard, helping his neighbors and snow-blowing drives in the winter. Above all else, he cherished his family and loved spending time with them. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind: his wife, Beverly of Oakwood; his children, John (Linda) Pigg of Danville, Lynn (Bruce) Kazakaitis of Oakwood, Tina (Dan) Pryer of Danville, & Cindy (Joe) Eickhoff of Oakwood; his grandchildren, Lara Darling of Oakwood, Michael (Justin) Kazakaitis of San Francisco, CA, Jennifer (Scot) Cromwell of Danville, Bryan (Emileigh) Pigg of Georgetown, Melissa Packard of Danville, Brooke (Cody) Divan of Champaign, & Michaela Eickhoff of Princeton, NJ; 8 great grandchildren; his brothers, Daniel Earl' (Evelyn) Pigg of Paris, IL, & Paul Pigg of Paris; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, & 3 brothers. A celebration of Walt's life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Kenny Bass & Darren Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8pm, Friday, September 25, 2015, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola. Memorial donations may be given in Walt's name to Chrisman Christian Church or Catlin Church of Christ.
