Walter S. Pinter, 82, died at 4:20am, Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville, while receiving therapy before returning home. He was born March 5, 1928, in Westville, the son of Emil and Mildred {Bernotas} Pinter, both deceased. He married Eleanor Razaitis on April 11, 1953, until her passing on May 31, 2004. Surviving include: his children, Barbara (Frank) Engle of Westville, Sandra (Steve) Lyons of Sidell, & Ron (Melissa) Pinter of Westville; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Lewis, Staci Engle, Tyler Lyons, Trenton Lyons, Ryan Pinter, Emily Pinter, Corey Pinter, & Nick Pinter; and his great grandson, Jackson Lewis. Walter was a member of the American Legion Post #51. He served in the US Navy 1947-1950 and also in the US Army 1953-1954. He retired in 1993 after working for Sears for nearly 40 years and was a well-loved Sears Repairman. He enjoyed woodworking, building models, word search puzzles, and listening to the radio, especially the WHS football games. Walter loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family. There will be a private family graveside service with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #51. As per his wishes, Walter will be cremated under the immediate supervision of Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, a Life Celebration, Westville. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Lithuanian National Cemetery of Westville or the Westville Public Library.
