Cayuga, Ind. - Walter L. Dirden, 77, of Cayuga, passed away at 3:45 p.m. EST Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his residence. He was born February 13, 1939 in Anna, Illinois the son of the Opal (Singleton) Farmer and Jesse Dirden. Walter married Patricia J. Eheart on November 26, 1965 in South Mills, North Carolina. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mandy (Jeff) Wann of Cayuga, Indiana and Beth (Mark) Coffing of Covington, Indiana; five grandchildren, Cole Wann; Allison (Brad) Knauer; Taylor, Hadley and Ashlyn Coffing; two great grandchildren, Tate Wann and Mila Knauer; one sister, Jackie (Joe) Eskridge of El Paso, Illinois and one brother, Jim (Deanne) Dirden of Roanoke, Texas. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Jack Farmer and one sister, Pam. Walter was a car salesman, retiring from Mooney Motors in Chrisman, Illinois. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a 1957 graduate of Eureka High School (Illinois). Walter was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Post #263. He enjoyed restoring cars and spending time with his many friends. He especially enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Per Walter's request cremation was accorded. There will be no services. The family request contributions to the Cayuga American Legion Post #263, 904 West Ferry Street, Cayuga, Indiana 47928. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family.
