Walter Swick, 83, of Danville, passed away at 12:30 am Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Danville Care Center. He was born on June 21, 1930, in Danville, the son of Harry Mason Sr. and Alice Josephine (Skinner) Swick. He married Selena Marie Hodges on December 28, 1951 in Beaufort, South Carolina. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Timothy John Swick; two daughters, Debra (David) Huron of Stateline, IN and Cynthia (Lee) Glines of Utah; one brother, Harry Mason (Roberta) Swick, Jr of Indiana; one sister, Patty Jo Huffman of Maryland; 10 grandchildren, Steven (Crystal) Black of Sidel, Don (Margaret) Black, Jr. of Danville, Amy Black of Wisconsin, Michael (Melissa) Black of Quincy, Jacob (Sarah) Glines of Kearns, Utah, Jennifer (Matt) Curry of Hannah, Utah, Aaron ( Kalie) Glines of Vernal, Utah, Katie (Brian) Simons of West Jordan, Utah, Ashley (Robert) Henry of Herriman of Utah and Becci Glines of West Jordan, Utah and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary, Sara and Betty. After graduating from Bismark High School with the class of 1948, where he majored in sports and track, Walter proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corp. Walter was a Master Carpenter all of his life and planned kitchens for Sears, built homes and garages for Bullock Construction and designed and built a home for his family. Walter had several hobbies including bee keeping, but his passion was gardening and he was known by all in the neighborhood for his beautiful tomatoes. He met many friends over the years as an Amway distributor. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Frontier Twirlers Square Dance Club. Walter loved his family and treasured each moment they spent together. . A Celebration of Walters life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, in Danville. Officiating services will be Bishop William Fulton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missionary Fund of the LDS Danville Ward Church.
