Walter Hugh Guthrie

Walter Hugh Guthrie, 79, of Danville, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 7,2004, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born December 5, 1924, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Frank and Goldie (Garland) Guthrie. He married Rita Ann Reynolds on January 15, 1945 in Danville, Indiana. She preceded him in death on May 27, 1996. He is survived by: 3 Daughters - Betty Guthrie of Tilton, Joy (Steve) Moreland of Danville, Kay (Kenny) Brown of Danville; 2 Sons- Hugh Guthrie of North Carolina and Ray Guthrie; 15 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Wife- Rita Ann Guthrie; 1 Daughter - Francis Kay Guthrie and 1 Son- Frank John Guthrie - both in infancy; 1 Brother- Kenneth Guthrie and 1 Sister- Ruby Guthrie. Walter was a lifelong Farmer in the Ridgefarm-Sidell area. He was a member of Community Church of Christ in Georgetown. Walter loved to socialize and be around people - he never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his beloved dog - "Misty". He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
