Walter 'Dick" E. Ping

Covington, Ind. - Walter "Dick" E. Ping, 83, of Covington, passed away at 5 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 28, 2013 at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital. He was born March 22, 1930 in Fountain County, Indiana, the son of the late Ralph and Lucille Davis Ping. Survivors include his children: Penny(Greg)Gayler of Darlington, Indiana; Debby(Scott)Hathaway of Kingman, Indiana and Robert(Eva)Douglas of Lafayette, Indiana; three grandchildren, Brittany Burns; Nicole Hathaway and Bryant Hathaway; three great grandchildren, Noah; Paige and Addison Burns; three sisters, Carolyn(Don)Ridge of Rosedale, Indiana; Joanne Cook of Danville, Illinois and Jane Allen of Covington, Indiana; one brother, Darrel(Liz)Ping of Williamsport, Indiana; three aunts, Doris, Laurabelle and Fauneil, and several nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. Dick retired from Olin/Flexel in Covington. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army. He was avid about mushrooming and enjoyed spending time with his family.
