Vivian Powell

Vivian Powell, 80, of Chrisman passed away May 19, 2021 at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman. She was born on August 18, 1940 in Eugene, Indiana a daughter of Luther and Maudie Cheesman.

Vivian married Robert Powell in August of 1957 in Perrysville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter Lisa Lee; brothers Gary Chessman, Dan Chessman, Butch Cheesman, and Marvin "Charlie Brown" Cheesman; and sisters Phyllis Cheesman and Nancy Martin.

She is survived by her children Jeffory (Penny) Powell, Jackie (Darren) Moody, and Trena (Craig) Blankenship, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Robert (Judy) Cheesman, Rick (Tammy) Cheesman, Dave (Melinda) Cheesman, Linda (Kenny) Obanion, and Tonya (David) Miller. Vivian loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She looked forward to spending time with them any chance she was given. Her family were her entire life, and she will be so dearly missed.

Vivian worked at Danville Manor before becoming a caregiver at independents homes around the area. Not only did she provide excellent care to her patients, but also to her family at home. She took care of her daughter, Lisa, throughout her battle with cancer and her husband, Robert, through his illness. She loved maintaining her yard and her garden full of flowers. Her family will always remember her as an amazing cook and the wonderful meals she provided.

Vivian will be laid to rest next to Robert at the Danville National Cemetery on Monday, May 24, 2021. A committal service will take place at the cemeterys pavilion at 10:00 am that morning. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville assisted her family with arrangements.
