Vivian L. Steht, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at 1:28 p.m. at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C. at the age of 84years. Mrs. Steht passed away due to aspiration pneumonia. She was diagnosed with Alzheimers and Parkinsons in May 2007. Mrs. Steht resided in Winterville, N.C. with her daughter Sue Ramert prior to residing at Britthaven of Ayden, NC for four months. She was formerly a resident of Georgetown, IL. She was born Nov. 13, 1922 in Danville, IL to the late George and Ada Luella (Snyder) Stout. She attended Garfield Grade School and Danville High School. She married Robert L.Steht on November 7, 1941 in Urbana, IL. He preceded her in death on January 4,, 2004. She is survived by four children: Robert K. (Judy) Steht of Hemet, CA, Sue (Don) Ramert of Winterville, N.C., Juanita (Herbert) Black of San Diego, CA., George (Connie) Steht of Bartow, Fl., and a sister Juanita (Bud) Ribbe of Bismarck, IL, plus 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, many wonderful nieces and nephews.Also preceding her in death were three brothers and two sisters: Bernard Stout of Danville,IL, George Shug Stout of New Orleans,LA., Larry Stout of Monterey,CA., Ruth Stout Cory of Danville,IL., and Virginia Stout High of Westville,IL. Vivian worked as a nurses aide and a L.P.N. in Danville, IL at the former St. Elizabeth hospital before moving to Long Beach, CA. There, she served as a volunteer to St. Marys Hospital for 15 years, before moving back to Illinois in 1985 to retire with her husband. She resided in Hemet, CA. for two years in Independent living prior to returning to N.C. to live with her daughter. Vivian was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville IL.; she attended St. Peters Catholic Church in Greenville, N.C. She received great feeling of peace when she attended Mass. Her hobbies included yard work, drawing, going for walks, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Vivian had an out-going personality, and enjoyed talking to people she met. The family of Vivian Steht wishes to thank the staff in Focus Care Palliative care unit at Pitt County Memorial Hospital for the wonderful care shown to both Vivian and her family.Memorials may be made to: Alzheimers Assoc, and American Cancer Society, St. Peters Catholic Church in Greenville N.C., 2700 East 4th Street, Greenville, N.C. 27858 The family will receive friends from 9-11:00am on Friday, Octotber 26th at Sunset Funeral Home Memorial Park and Cremation Center located at 3940 N.Vermilion St. in Danville, Illinois. Father Dennis ORiley officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
