Vivian P. Edwards, 85, of Danville, formerly of Bismarck, passed away at 9:38 a.m.,Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at her daughters home. She was born June 23, 1923 in West Salem, IL the daughter of Lawrence T. McKinney and Cova E. Wells. She married Bill Edwards on July 18, 1948 at Farmers Chapel in Danville, IL. Vivian is survived by one son: Robert (Cindy) Edwards of Danville; two daughters , Katherine (Rick) Youmans of Kingman, IN and Martha Mert (Dick) Reed of Danville, IL ; one brother, Myril Ted (Shirley) McKinney of West Salem, IL; five sisters, Fern Tuley of Dale, IN, Louise Yoder Elkhart, IN, Joyce (Ed) Miller, West Salem, IL , Delores Dort Greathouse, West Salem, IL, Helen (Gary) Keener of Danville, IL; five grandchildren, Chad Edwards, Darren (Lhonda) Edwards, Todd (Jessica) Youmans, Scott (Abby) Youmans, and Rebecca (Steve) Perry; three great grandchildren, two step- great grandchildren and one step -great- great grandchild and one Special daughter Susan (John) Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Virgil and Ivan McKinney Along with being a homemaker, Vivian worked as a Certified Cash Register Technician for National Cash Register, as well as later working in the High School Cafeteria, and finally driving a bus for Bismarck School District. Vivian was a member of Farmers Chapel. She spent her time researching genealogy and was a life member of the Illiana Genealogy Society. Vivian enjoyed going to Gospel sings, she was an avid Cardinal baseball fan as well as an Illini basketball fan. However, Vivians greatest joy in her life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her loving husband Bill, with whom she just celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage. A celebration of the life for Vivian Edwards will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion with Glenn Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery in Bismarck. Visitation will be held 4-7:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Vivians name to the Carle Hospice, Illiana Genealogy Society or charity of Donors choice.
