Danville – Vivian J. Dodge, 94, of Danville, passed away at 2:34 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Bickford of Champaign. She was born on November 15, 1931, in Fairmount, IL to Charles William and Clara (Truex) Gooch. She married Sherman S. “Mike” Dodge on August 30, 1952, in Danville. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2017.
She is survived by three children, Joslen (John) Cramer, Michael Dodge, and Gary (Karen) Dodge, all of Danville; nine grandchildren, Tonia (Emanul) Hammond of Danville, Ryan Dodge (Melissa Carrillo) of Danville, Arian (Michael) Jones of Danville, Adrian Dodge of Danville, Brandy (Jason) Livingston of SC, Kallista (Bucky) Reddish of Charleston, IL, Skyler Dodge of Chicago, Jimmy Richards of Georgetown, and Shane Richards of Danville; and twelve great grandchildren, Michael, Madelyn, Emery, Holden, Sophia, Tyelen, Chamberlin, Maddi, Alayania, Remington, Gracie, and Amelia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Charles, Stanly, and Roger Gooch.
Vivian began her career at Florsheim Shoes in Danville until moving to Bohn, later Heatcraft. There she was a proud member of the UAW and worked for over thirty years until her retirement. Vivian loved to stay busy and was known for always offering to lend a hand to friends and family with whatever they may need. She loved animals and spending time working in her yard.
A service to celebrate the life of Vivian J. Dodge will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL, 61834. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, September 4, also at Sunset in Danville.
