Newport, IN - Virginia R. Youmans, 92, of Newport, passed away at 5:45 a.m. EDT Tuesday(May 23, 2006) at West Central Community Hospital in Clinton, Indiana. She was born August 13, 1913, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of the late Walter W. and Myrtle R. Britton Wyckoff. She married Keith G. Youmans Oct. 10, 1936, in Paris, Ill. He passed away June 7, 2002. Survivors include: three sons, K. Barton Youmans of Terre Haute, Ind.; David K. Youmans of Newport, Ind. and Richard G.(Katherine)Youmans of Kingman, Ind.; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one half brother, John(Caroline)Wyckoff of Mobile, Ala. and one half sister, Wilma Jean Wilson of Champaign, Ill.. She was preceded in death by her step father, John W. Nickel. Virginia was formerly employed by Francis I. DuPont & Co. and Orvis Brothers NYSE Brokerage Firms in Danville, Ill. for several years. She was a member of the Newport United Methodist Church where she was the organist for many years. She was also a past Worthy Matron of the Newport Chapter O.E.S. and member of the Perrysville Chapter #302 O.E.S. and the Vermillion County Choral Club for many years. Virginia was a 1933 graduate of Danville High School and a graduate of the Utterback Business College. She enjoyed music, reading, growing african violets, sewing and quilting. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Friday, May 26, 2006, at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Rose Lawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the funeral home.
