Virginia Lorrien Griffith 91, of Georgetown went to her Heavenly home at 11:46 am Friday October 7, 2011 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman. She was born June 10, 1920 in Villa Grove, IL, the daughter of William Lewis and Mildred May {Priest} Duell both deceased. Virginia was united in marriage to Perry Albert Griffith on July 1, 1938 in Clinton, IN, he preceded her on May 30, 1997 at home in Georgetown. Those who will miss her are: a daughter, Gail Hope (Jack) Coe of Dana, IN; her son, Thomas Dean (Susan) Griffith of Council, Idaho; six grandchildren, E. Steven (Magdalena) Rayne of Land O Lakes, FL, Michael G. (Jessica) Griffith of McCall, ID, Mark A. Griffith of Emmett, ID, Melissa A. (Josh) Stevenson of Gillette, WY, Julie Ann (Dan) Dzielawa of Dublin, OH, and Debra (Cory) Malz of Smithfield, RI; eight great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Lucille "Blondie" Lawson of West Lebanon, IN, Sarah Grave of Danville, Wilma (Ed) Rice of Claremont, NH; and her brother, James "Shorty" Duell of Danville; as well as, numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by: her son, Jerry A. Griffith of Georgetown; two sisters, Geneva Sykes and Irene Riddle; and a brother, George Duell. Virginia was a longtime member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. She was involved in church activities, the American Red cross, and helping at the Georgetown Fair. She enjoyed music and to sing along. Two of her favorite songs were "Jesus loves me" and "Mansion over the Hilltop". She also loved doing crafts, crocheting and loved camping with Perry, their children and grandchildren. Virginia loved bowling and did so till the age of 83. A celebration of life funeral service for Virginia will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday October 11, 2011 at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Tuesday. She will be laid to rest in Forrest Park Cemetery in Georgetown. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village activities fund in Chrisman.
