Virginia 'Kitty' Jones

Virginia Kitty E. Jones 84 of Danville, went to be with her husband and lord at 12:45 a.m. July 5, 2007 at Provena USMC Hospital. Kitty was born on February 23, 1923 in Danville, the daughter of John and Helen Smith, on October 31, 1953 she married John Paul Bud Jones Jr. he preceded her on August 2, 1969, and she never remarried. Surviving is her son Michael (Jackie) Jones of Danville, a sister Jaqueline Bryant of Bowling Green, KY, and a nephew Tim (Diane) Haggerty of Bowling Green, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew she loved Terry Haggerty. Kitty retired in 1996 as Director of Staff Services for the Danville Police Department, serving over 22 years, and was honored by Unit # 11 of the Illinois Policemans Benevolent and Protective Association for her meticulous commitment to the Department. Kitty graduated from Danville High School, attended DACC, along with the University of Illinois. Throughout Kittys life she was a devoted member of St. Pauls Catholic Church, she loved the Lord and her family with all her heart, she will be immensely missed by her family and the many friends that she made in her life. Kittys biggest hobby was discussing the memories of the happy times she had working with the officers and staff of the Police department over the years, she loved gardening, reading, helping others and being a wonderful mother. A special thanks to Jackie Jones her best friend and daughter-in-law, Mary Thompson, and randy Duprey who provided 24 hour care for her in the last six years. As per Kittys request she will be cremated and her cremains will be placed next to her husband in Resurrection Cemetery. A celebration of life service for Kitty will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 7, 2007 at the Chapel Mausoleum in Resurrection cemetery. Sunsets Community & Life Tribute Center is in charge of the arrangements.
