Virginia June Mcfarland

Virginia June (Cundiff) McFarland, 89 of Fairmount, IL passed away on April 30, 2021 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. She was born on July 15, 1931 in Pilot Township to John William and Emma Edith (Atwood) Cundiff. June married John Edwin McFarland on June 20, 1954 at Cedar Grove Nazarene Church.

June is survived by her husband of 66-years, John, a daughter Darla (Steven) June McFarland Sigmon, grandson Jacob Paul Sigmon, a granddaughter Sarah Grace Sigmon, and a brother, Theodore Cundiff.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, John and Emma Cundiff, and 7 siblings, Leslie Cundiff, Viola Cundiff, Francis Cundiff, Sarah Henriott, Grace Cundiff, Jesse Cundiff, and Marie Miller.

June graduated from Armstrong High School in 1950 and retired from General Electric in 1991. She enjoyed working outdoors and was known for Junes Jellies. She also delighted in going to antique car shows and parades with her husband. June cherished time spent with her daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter. June loved to keep in contact with many members of her extended family and friends.

June was a member of the Governor Bradford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

A Celebration of Junes life will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Oakwood, Illinois 105 East S. Main St. Oakwood, Illinois 61858 with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Oakwood, IL. Visitation will be held the evening of Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm at the Sunset Oakwood Chapel.
