Virginia Jones

Virginia J. Jones, 89, of Georgetown passed away at 1:23 a.m. Sunday April 15, 2012 at her home. She was born on June 30, 1922, the daughter of Sherman and Parthenia (Smith) Smith, on the family farm near Olivet. She married G.D. Jones on July 11, 1947 in LaGrange, GA. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Sabrina (Greg) Hilsheimer of Urbana, her grand-daughter Victoria Hilsheimer of Urbana, and her nephews Claude and Lewis Shanks. She was preceded in death by her parents. She attended Olivet Elementary School and graduated from Georgetown High School. She started and worked at the Pinecrest Elementary Library, and retired after 24 years. She was a great lover of nature and enjoyed gardening. She also loved all children. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday April 19, 2012 at Sunset's Houghton Leasure Funeral Chapel. Pastor James Walker and Pastor Jerry Vincent will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Vermilion Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from1-2 p.m. Thursday, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
