Jen was born September 14,1933 in Perrysville, Indiana to Florence Lena Pritchard Kizer and Frank Michael Kizer. She married Charles "Lee" Johnson of Catlin, IL. Their marriage resulted in three children: Philip (Sherry) Johnson of Oakwood; Brenda (Jay) Wood of Anderson, IN; and Karen (John Laker) Loewenstein of Danville, IL.
Her grandchildren include Brandy Schacht, Bobbi (Josh) Smith, Peter Carus, Jeremy (Amber), Jacob (Amber), Kimberly Loewenstein, Michael (Kristy) Johnson and Andrew Johnson. Jen loved her 9 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Jen married Warren Joseph Briggs July 31, 1973. He preceded her in death October 14, 1991. Jen married Keith L. Boen May 22, 2004. He preceded her in death October 4, 2014.
Jen attended Catlin schools and was the first Freshman cheerleader on the Varsity Squad. She received a degree in accounting from LaSalle Extension School.
During her lifetime Jen worked at various bookkeeping positions, retiring from Kizer Construction. Jen was a member of several Churches of Christ in her lifetime, most recently Central Park Church of Christ.
Jen is survived by her children, grandchildren, one sisterMadge Ross and was preceded in death by siblings, Mildred Kizer, Clarence Kizer, Wayne Kizer, Ed Kizer, Margaret Dickerson, Mabel Hoth, and Susie Smoot. She enjoyed her numerous nieces, nephews and blended family members.
Jen was an artist in her own right. She loved her "bling" and the sound of coins clanging from the slot machines. At one time had quite a collection of purses and Longaberger baskets. She enjoyed doing crafts with her grandchildren. Jen had been employed with R&S Printing in Danville as a proofreader. Her attention to detail was unrivaled. She and Karen owned and operated a popular craft store in the Quad Cities at one time. Jen gave painting lessons, especially Tole painting. She was a hard worker and dedicated to her employers and especially to her children.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Kiley Garrison. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held just prior from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
