Virginia G. Jackson, age 88, of Danville, passed away at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born March 17, 1920 in Shepardsville, IN The daughter of Everett Charles and Clossie (Grimes) Kiger. Virginia married Leroy Gentry on November 7, 1942 in Long Beach, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1964. She married Dalton Diz Jackson on August 19, 1992 in Danville. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1998. Virginia is survived by two daughters: Karen (James) Bilstad of Danville, Linda (Don) Snider of Danville; one sister: Madeline Jackson of Cayuga, IN; five grandchildren: Kim (Tony) Frye, Kelli (Todd) Cox, Justin Cline, Chad Edwards, Darren (Lhonda) Edwards, one step grandson: Jason (Jenon) Bilstad; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers: Howard and James Kiger; and two sisters: Doris Byers and Dorene Weir. Virginia graduated from Kingman High School. Later on in life, she graduated from nursing school. She worked at Lakeview Hospital for five years she then worked for fifteen years at the VA Hospital in Danville until her retirement in 1985. Virginia loved spending time with her family and cooking for them, especially baking pies. She enjoyed playing the piano. Virginia was a lifelong caregiver who tended to the needs of others before herself. She loved all her grandchildren very much. She was a devoted member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Danville.
