Virginia F. “Ginny” McKee, 89 of Danville passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at her home with her family at her side. She was born on February 3, 1925 in Danville, the daughter of Harry and Anna (Kacmar) Sims. She married John E. McKee on November 2, 1947 in Danville and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2012 after nearly 65 years of marriage. She will be deeply missed by her sons Mark McKee of Danville; Larry (Betsy) McKee of Covington, IN ; grandchildren Jason (Dixie) Enos and Lauren Enos of Danville; Molly McKee of Springfield, IL and Tristan McKee of Champaign, IL. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren Gracie and Walker Enos; Jasmine and Jaden Simmons; Trenton Jefferson and one brother, Ferman Sims of Gasquet, CA , as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Julie Enos, sister Phyllis Brady and two infant brothers, Charles and Richard. Ginny was a graduate of Oakwood High School. She was a homemaker for most of her life as well as working in the Danville Township office for several years. She loved her children dearly and her grandchildren were the light of her life. Ginny had a special love for all children. She had many friends and her very dearest friend was her sister Phyllis, with whom she shared a passion for shopping through their lives. She was a kind and gentle lady who was loved by all who knew her and family and friends always gathered in her home for holidays, Sunday dinners with her special homemade noodles or just to celebrate being together. Ginny loved cooking and canning the produce grown by her husband, John, in their garden. The family would like to thank all of the excellent caregivers from Presence Hospice and Alpha-Care who became family and provided loving, respectful and compassionate care to Ginny. Also a special thank you to Beverly Rogers for the loving care and companionship she provided. We will forever be thankful for all of these angels who blessed our lives during Ginnys final days. A celebration of Ginnys life will be held on March 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Ginnys name to the American Alzheimers Association or the American Heart Association.
