Virginia L. Ferpotto

Virginia L. Ferpotto, 86, passed away on August 26, 2025, at Goldwater Care in Danville, Illinois. She was born on September 20, 1938, in Alvin, Illinois, to the late Maurice and Ruth Ellen {Green} Wilson. Virginia, who at work was affectionately known as “Ginny” and by her family as “Aunt Jim”, and was a Westville High School graduate. On May 18, 1963, she married Richard Ferpotto, and the two would share the next 62 years together raising their family and making wonderful memories.

Virginia's journey in the professional world began humbly as she worked her way up the ladder at First National Bank in Westville. Starting as a teller, her hard work, determination, and remarkable skills in mathematics led her to retire as vice president. Even after retiring, her passion for her work continued as she accepted a management position at the bank in Catlin, where she served for five years.

Virginia’s devotion to her faith was evident in how she lived her life. She was actively involved in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westville, where she attended Mass regularly and was a proud member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Virginia devoted her time volunteering at church events, often serving as the event cashier, that further showcased her generous spirit and passion to serve others.

Family was central to Virginia’s life. She was known not only for her culinary skills, particularly her potato salad and peach crisp, which became family favorites at reunions, but also for the deep love she held for her dear family members. She cherished playing euchre with her siblings, finding joy in the connection and laughter shared during those moments together. Her beloved dog, Prince, brought her great happiness, and her home was a testament to her nurturing spirit. She was also an avid reader and could often be found lost in the pages of a good book. Bowling was another passion; she participated in the bowling league at both the Westville American Legion and the Danville Lincoln Lanes, where she cherished the camaraderie and friendly competition. She had a charming knack for discovering four-leaf clovers and lucky pennies, which she always kept. Both she and Richard enjoyed evenings on the back patio with coffee, usually an added dash of Baileys in Virginia’s.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Richard; her children Tim (Debbie) Ferpotto, Kristi Ferpotto, and Angela Ferpotto; her grandchildren Madelyn (Noah) Gustafson and Parker Arnholt; and her brother Dale Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas Ferpotto and her siblings Wini Vogt, Kate Rothwell, Harold, Roland, and Wayne Wilson.
