Danville- Virginia E. Long, 97, of Danville passed away at 4:05 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Danville Care Center. She was born on May 19, 1913 in Georgetown, IL to Samuel A. and Mary Newell Taylor. She married Robert D. Long on May 16, 1936 in Danville. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2002. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Ted) Caudill of Danville; 2 grandchildren, Samuel (Sabrina) New and Jennifer (Chris) Pavlick; 3 step-grandchildren Wentress and Corbett Caudill and Hollie (Rodney) Austin; 7 great-grandchildren, Dana, Samuel, Robert, Zachary, Kristen, Taylor, and Trenton; and 9 step great-grandchildren Katelynn, Brennan, Michaela, Rylan, Brythan, Tiffani, Cody, Bridgett, and Brandon. In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Muriel Tesch and Carrie Bishop, and a brother Melvin Taylor. Virginia enjoyed working with flowers and collected Teddy Bears. She also enjoyed painting wooden figurines which her husband made. A service to celebrate the life of Virginia Long will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Bishop William Fulton will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be from 1 to2 PM prior to the services on Friday.
