Virginia E. Barker, 75, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She was born on December 8, 1938 in Carl Ridge, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles E. and Lorema (Simpson) Sutton. Virginia married Max Barker November 24, 1957 in Rossville, IL. He passed away on May 22, 2009. Virginia will be missed by one son, Randy L. Barker of Georgetown; one daughter, Amy R. Knolhoff of Lafayette, IN; five grandchildren, Ryan D. Barker of New York, Hailey N. Campbell of Lafayette, IN, and Collin, Carter, and Holden Knolhoff, all of Lafayette, IN; five sisters, Catherine Pataki of Fithian, Barb Elliott of Potomac, Jane (Bob) Giesert of Florida, Joan Rockwell of Bismarck, and Lana K. Miller of Georgetown; and two brothers, Lawrence Sutton of California and Kenneth Vice of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Rick; two sisters, Sara Vice and Jean Sutton and one brother, Sonny Sutton. Virginia graduated from DACC and then attended EIU to earn her teaching degree. She loved being an early childhood educator. A celebration of Virginias life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Chapel, Georgetown with Pastor Gary Farris officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service on Saturday. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
