Virginia Lee Ginny Davis, age 80, of Danville, passed away at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born December 18, 1929 in Rossville, IL the daughter of Noah and Zelda (Turner) Conner. Virginia married Arthur E. Davis on September 5, 1948 in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1989. She is survived by her two sons: Terry L. Davis of Houston, Texas, Randy A. (Wanda Winters) Davis of Danville; two daughters: Janet K. (Dennis) Lucas of Georgetown, Cindy Whitlock of Ridge Farm; eleven grandchildren: Dennis Lucas Jr., Richard Lucas, Nathan Lucas, Ryan Lucas, Amy Foehrer, Douglas Thompson, Joe Thompson, Tony Thompson, Jarrad Thompson, Marshall Davis, Heather Davis; eleven great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and two very special friends: Lois Dokey and Mary Cox. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son: Danny Joe Davis, two grandsons, one granddaughter and two sisters: Norma Vore and Lily Mae Conner. Virginia graduated from John Greer High School in Hoopeston. She worked as a nurses aid at Danville Care before working at General Electric in Danville. Virginia worked for over twenty years at GE until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Roselawn Garden Club and the Christian Womens Club. She was also a member and secretary of the Illiana Organaires. Virginia loved playing the organ and would play for anyone who would listen. She also enjoyed baking and spending time with her family and friends. She attended the Danville Alliance Church. A celebration of the life of Virginia Ginny Davis will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Friday, February 12, 2010 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Virginias name to either the American Cancer Society or the Provena Regional Cancer Center.
