Danville - Virginia Marie Auter, 84, of Danville passed away at home Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at 1:40 PM, peacefully surrounded by family and caregivers. Virginia was born August 15, 1929 in Champaign County, the daughter of Ray C. and Grace L. (Esworthy) Yeats. She was the seventh child of ten. On February 14, 1959, Virginia married Harold W. Auter. They recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. He survives. Virginia is also survived by three sisters, Ruby Stacey, Ruth Weaver, and Wilma (Robert) Courson, all of Danville, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and her best friend, Patty Jumps. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Melvin Yeats; four sisters, Fauntella Collings, Dorothy Richmond, Janice Ramsey, and Rena Bullock; one nephew, Ray Yeats; and one great-nephew, Larry Jenson. Virginia had worked at GE, loved to bowl and play Bunco, and enjoyed her several vacation trips. She also liked to make pies and listen to Country Gospel music. Virginia also enjoyed nature and loved to sit for hours and watch the wildlife in her backyard. A celebration of the life of Virginia Auter will begin at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastors Dave Hastings and Curtis Darling will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM on Tuesday prior to the service, also at Sunset in Danville.
