Virginia A. Scott

Virginia A. Scott of Georgetown passed away on September 9, 2010, at Hickory Estates in Taylorville, IL. She was born on November 7, 1916, the daughter of Leonard and Justin Celia Spencer in Danville, IL. On March 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Stanley Scott until his passing in 1997. Virginia is survived by: her two daughters, Jean Merry of Indianapolis, IN, and Sally (Mike) Coombs of Springfield; her two sons, Larry D (Shirley) Scott of Georgetown & Melvin L. (Mary Lou) Scott of Brownsburg, IN; her eight grandchildren; her five great grandchildren; and three sisters, Iris Paige of Francesville, IN, Marie Hughes of La Porte, IN, and Betty (Richard) Spencer of Jamestown, IN. She was preceded in death by: her parents; three brothers; five sisters; and a son-in-law. For all of her life, Virginia was a homemaker who loved to cook, bake, and tend her garden and flowers. A celebration of Virginias life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL, with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm on Saturday prior to the service. Steve Rutter will officiate. She will be laid to rest in McKendree Cemetery.
