Virgie A. Smith

RIDGE FARM- Virgie A. Smith 99, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 12:55am on October 30, 2006 at the Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Mrs. Smith was born on September 10, 1907 in Ridge Farm, the daughter of Charles and Laura (Wright) Hale. Both parents precede her in death. On February 5, 1927, Virgie married Verlin Smith. He preceded her in death in 1983. Virgie is survived by her two sisters; Arlene Swank of Danville, and Lela Murphy of Glenview, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her three brothers; Theran, Oran, Charles, and her two sisters; Ella, and Mary, precede Virgie in death. Virgie was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. She was an active member of the Ridge Farm Church of the Nazarene for more than 60 years, volunteering her time with various church activities. A celebration of Virgie Smiths life is scheduled for 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Final resting place will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at the funeral home.
