Violet E. Dolbee, 93, of Danville, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton. Mrs. Dolbee was born on September 9, 1916, in Danville, the daughter of Mr. Edward and Mrs. Blanche (Hardesty) Farnum. On October 21, 1933, Violet married Mr. Raymond Dolbee Sr. in Catlin. They were married 43 years until his passed in 1976. Surviving family include four children, Mr. Raymond Ray Dolbee Jr. (wife Dorothy) of Danville, Mrs. Betty Pate (husband Randall) of Danville, Mrs. Donna Pollard of Westville, and Mrs. Pamela Freeman (husband Jack) of Indiana. Also surviving Violet are her sixty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, her brother, Mr. Edward Eugene Farnum (wife Rona) of California, and her four sisters, Mrs. Naomi Musson of California, Mrs. Doris Morgan of California, Mrs. Marjorie Rosenew of Florida, and Mrs. Betty Jo Williamson (husband Billy) of Kentucky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents, one son, William Bill Dolbee, two sisters, four grandsons, and two son-in-laws, precede Violet in death. Violet was a member of the Westville First Church of Christ and attended the Central Park Christian Church in Tilton. She worked many years as a beauty operator. She enjoyed her time with family, crocheting, playing the organ, and singing. Violet also enjoyed sewing, traveling, working in her flower garden, growing vegetables and canning them. The family of Violet Dolbee would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire nursing staff at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home for their time, compassion, and care throughout Violets stay. A Celebration of Violet Dolbees Life will begin at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
