Viola Nicoson, 77, of Danville, passed away at 9:40 PM on November 4, 2011 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville. Viola was born on May 20, 1934 to Harvey and Viola (Cook) Lister in Danville. She was married to Richard Nicoson on December 3, 1952 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Danville. He survives. She is survived by two sons-Jeff (Kathy) Nicoson of Danville and Doug (Dawn) Nicoson of Horton MI, one brother- Walter (Iona) Lister of Attica IN, sister-in-law Jean Lister of Danville, eight grandchildren- Donny (Marcy) Nicoson, Megan Nicoson; Erin, Andrew, Lindsay and Matthew Nicoson, Jennifer (Doug) Miller and Stacey Nicoson, one great- grandchild- Mady Nicoson and a baby on the way also, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-David Nicoson, two brothers- Donald and Gerald Lister and five sisters- Dora Ellen Cash, Margaret Dunagan, Betty Lyons, Josephine Tellier and Mary Lister. Viola attended Danville High and was also a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian of Danville. She loved to fish, go mushrooming, planting her flower garden, cooking, hummingbirds and Kennekuk family picnics. She especially loved her family. She worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company and Holiday IGA as Deli Manager and later County Market where she retired. A Celebration of Viola's Life will take place on Tuesday November 8, 2011 at 10 AM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Chuck Streben officiating. A visitation will be held Monday November 7, 2011 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials can be made to the donor's choice.
