Viola F. Sliva, age 87, of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 4:50 PM at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born September 5, 1927 in Danville, the daughter of Jay C. and Elcia (Stambaugh) Davis. Viola married John F. Sliva on March 29, 1947 in Danville and he preceded her in death February 25, 1995. Surviving are: her son Steve (Karen) Sliva of Georgetown; brothers Jean (Virginia) Davis and Robert (Mary) Davis both of Danville; sisters, Dorthy Wonderlin of Oakwood, Irene (Bill) Cunningham of Danville, and Laura Curry of Georgetown; grandchildren, Jeff (Traci) Sliva of Ft. Knox, KY, Kimberly Ann (Ronald) May of Newbern, TN, Karri (Charlie) Vire of Georgetown, Erin (Kevin) Gordon Byrne of Nashville, TN, and Lexi and Ethan Sliva of Georgetown; great-grandchildren, Chase Vire, Kelsey Jordan, Korie Vire, Meghan Koester, Sesiley Ward, Gabriel Sliva, and Avery Sliva; great-great-granddaughter, Jordan Karson Thompson; brother-in-law, Hugh King of Danville; sister-in-laws, Charlotte Hart of Westville, Betty Porcheddu of Indianapolis, and Alice Sliva of Westville; and several nieces and nephews; and an abundant amount of people who respected and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, John, one son, Johnny J. Sliva, sisters Jo Ann Davis, Emma Mullins, and Gerry King, and one brother, James Davis. Viola loved her family very much. She was her grandchildrens and great-grandchildrens biggest cheerleader and you could find her in the crowd at as many of their events as possible. Viola attended the Liberty Church east of Georgetown faithfully. She also loved to go to the Georgetown Fair; it was the highlight of her year. Viola was very active and would go to all of the church functions she could. She never met a stranger. Viola will be missed dearly by her family and many friends. A Celebration of Violas life will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Pastor Glen Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery. Memorials in Violas name can be made to the Georgetown Agricultural Fair.
