CATLIN - Viola Blanche (Reed) Davis, 89, of Catlin, passed away peacefully at 3:30pm, on Tuesday, January 15th, 2008, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman. Mrs. Davis was born on November 23rd, 1918, in Sidell, IL, to Lucy (Catlett) and Elijah Reed. She married Joseph F. Davis on June 29th, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1996. Survivors include: her three sons, Kenneth A. (Virginia) Davis of Oakwood, Larry D. (Judith) Davis of Cincinnati, OH, and Marion L. (Norma) Davis of Georgetown; her six grandchildren, Jeffery Davis (Lauri Soderstrom), Angela Davis (Paul Laski), Kimberly (Alan) Cessna, Scott (SaLena) Davis, Steven (Jodi) Davis, and Stacie (David) Young; her nine great grandchildren, Autumn, Paili, & Quinn Laski, Jenna, Jada, Ashlee & Andrew Davis, Sarah & Benjamin Young. Mrs. Davis is also survived by her brother, Frank Reed of Phoenix, AZ, and her sister Mildred Smith of Paxton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and two sisters. She will also be missed by many nieces & nephews, close neighbors and family; and a special friend, Winnie Lewis. Viola was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and a past member of Eastern Star. She was on the Carroll Township Election Board and volunteered for many years at the Georgetown Fair. She was a devoted farm wife for many years. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Pleasant Meadows Christian Village for their excellent care and kindness. A celebration of Violas life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, January 19th, 2008, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL. Jennie Chin will officiate the service. Visitation will be 4p-8p, Friday, January 18th, 2008, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Memorial donations may be given in Violas name to Fairview Methodist Church
