Viola Alcorn

Viola Alcorn 88, of Danville passed away at 10:45 Am Sunday March 29, 2009 at North Logan Healthcare. She was born December 6, 1921 in Catlin, the daughter of Olick and Ethel Hill Lindberg. Viola married Elmer Alcorn on September 18, 1947 in Catlin, IL; he preceded her in death on February 11, 2007. A son, Vaughn and his wife Saundra Alcorn of Danville, a brother Andy Lindberg of Seabrook, TX, and her grandchildren Austin and Autumn Alcorn of Danville survive viola. Her parents preceded her in death. In her earlier years, Viola worked for Illinois Power Co as a radio operator. She had also worked for accounting firms in the area. Viola prepared income taxes for senior citizens for several years up until her age of 83. She was a member of the former Northland Christian Church were she served as Church treasurer for twenty years. Viola and her husband Elmer volunteered many hours tending to the elderly at nursing homes and organizations. She enjoyed country music, playing the piano and taking bus trips to Branson, MO. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren Austin and Autumn. A celebration of life funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 2, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Ron Sillings officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday April 1, 2009 at the funeral home.
