Vincent "Vince" OBrien, 66, of Danville passed away on May 4, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. He was born on April 13, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Beatrice and Robert OBrien.
Vince loved music and sports from an early age. He played the guitar and saxophone, and enjoyed singing. He participated in baseball, swimming, basketball, and football while growing up, and softball, bowling, golf, and darts as an adult. He also coached his kids in baseball and basketball when they were young. Vince married Mary Bowes in March of 1991. They shared a wonderful 31 years together before his passing. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and buddy, Bruno. They spent many hours, together, cheering on the Cubs and Notre Dame. He also enjoyed many vacations with family and friends. One of his favorite trips was the visit to Ireland. He was able to visit his grandfathers hometown and had the pleasure of meeting some of his distant family.
Vince graduated from Schlarman High School in 1974 and continued his education at Danville Junior College and Illinois State University. He was a letter carrier for 15 years in the Danville area before being able to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning a bar, which they proudly named OBriens Corner Tavern, in 1998. If you walked through his bar door, you were a friend for life. He was a light and joy to be around. He loved people and was always kind to others, offering support and love to anyone he met.
Vince is survived by his wife, Mary OBrien; his father Robert "Bob" OBrien, and his children Pete (Jennifer) OBrien, Kyle (Jennifer) OBrien, Lindsay OBrien, Dr. Matt (Dr. Amy Hostetter) Fabrizio, and Carol (Jillion Potter) Fabrizio. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Wrigley, Harper, Stryker, Kent, Asher, Arlo, and Auggie. He was anxiously awaiting another grandchild from Carol and Jillion, due in June. His siblings Terry (Ron Rawls) OBrien, Jeff (Debbie) OBrien, Julie (Rick) Welch, and Lucy (Eric) McKinnon also survive. Vince will also be greatly missed by many special friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Beatrice Jaeger OBrien.
A memorial service celebrating Vinces life will take place at 2:00 on June 11th at OBriens Corner Tavern. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danville Cancer Center.
