GEORGETOWN - Vincent J. Suchaczewski, 89, of Georgetown passed away at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday January 16, 2008 at the VA Illiana Health Care System. He was born on January 15, 1919 in Westville, IL the son of Anthony and Albina Glowicki Suchaczewski. He married Josephine Mikulski on July 29, 1950 at the St. Isaacs Jogues Parish in Georgetown by Fr. Stanley Majka. She survives. Other survivors include two brothers, Fred (Lillian) Suchaczewski of Chicago, IL and Zigmont (Wanda) Suchaczewski of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Walter, Joseph, Frank, and Tony. Vincent was a Veteran of the US Navy serving from 1939 to 1946. He served on the USS Wright which was an aircraft tender. He was stationed in the South Pacific. He told of arriving in Pearl Harbor the day after the attack. After leaving the service, he became a Merchant Marine. Vincent retired from Container Corporation in Carol Stream, IL. He was a member of the St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Georgetown. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed politics. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:00am, Monday, January 21st, 2008, at St. Isaac Jogues Parish. Fr. John Paninski will officiate. Visitation will be 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Sunday, January 20th, 2008, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St. in Westville with at Rosary at 3:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Isaac Jogues Parish.
