Viki L. Hawley

Viki L. Hawley, of Urbana, passed away on April 3, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 2, 1950, Viki devoted her life not only to her family but also to her community, serving as a University of Illinois police officer for 27 years. Her commitment to law enforcement was paralleled only by her unwavering dedication to those she loved.

Viki was a proud alumna of Parkland Community College, where she earned her associate degree in law enforcement. In her personal life, Viki found joy in tending to her garden, and alongside her beloved husband, Charles Hawley, she embarked on countless motorcycle journeys across the lower 48 states, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Viki's greatest pride, however, lay in her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles J. Hawley, children, Charles K. (Rebecca) Hawley and Patrick (Joanna Duley) Hawley, grandchildren, Tallulah, Anna, Finn, Charles W., and Theodore Hawley, and sister, Pam (Kevin) Sprau.

Viki is preceded in death by her parents, Genevie and Clifford Peeler, who imparted upon her the values of kindness, dedication, and resilience.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on April 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center’s Champaign Chapel, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. It will be a time for family and friends to come together, share stories, and remember a remarkable woman who touched the lives of so many.

Viki L. Hawley leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and endless memories. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
