Victoria “Vicki” Jo Miethe, 72, passed away on February 14, 2026 at her home in Tilton surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 11, 1953 to the late Oren and Pearl {Nieminski} Cunningham. A graduate of Danville High's Class of 1971, Vicki furthered her education at DACC, earning her associate's degree.
Vicki was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to both her family and her career. She began working for her father at Mike's Grill when she was only 11 years old. Her hard work and dedication led her to ultimately own and operate the beloved establishment. Through the years at Mike’s Grill, Vicki touched the lives of many employees and customers. Amazingly, Vicki was able to do it all; even while raising 5 children. In 2018, she made the decision to pass Mike's Grill to her son, Eric. Even after selling the restaurant, she continued to help and support Eric in many ways. She also continued to own and operate Mike’s Chill. Mike’s Grill & Chill will continue to carry on the family legacy serving the community. It was definitely her innate ability to care for others that truly set her apart. Vicki was a natural caretaker, always putting others first and ensuring that everyone around her felt special and loved.
In her personal time, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her favorite pastime was enjoying her 13 grandchildren. Nana loved to watch her grandchildren play wiffle ball in the yard and taught them all to swim in her pool. In the winter, she could be found putting together puzzles and making the most wonderful holiday memories with her family. She loved to take her family on vacation trips to Fort Myers Beach, Florida. She also looked forward to getting together with the Bunco club, that gradually evolved into friends gathering for dinner, laughter, and fun. It was well known that more than anything, Vicki loved her family and spending time with them. She was so proud of all of her children and grandchildren and loved them all so much!
Vicki married the love of her life, Stephen Miethe, and the two would spend the next 42 years together making wonderful memories. He survives. Also surviving are her children Eric (Kelly) Sherer, Amy (Nathan) Escue, Kristi (Joe) George, Nick (Shanon) Miethe, and Andrew (Nikki) Miethe; and her grandchildren Kylie & Evan Sherer, Parker & Jackson Escue, Caden & Cooper George, Leighton & Waylon Miethe, Lane & Lincoln Clemmons, and Grant, Grady, & Eliza Miethe. She is also survived by her sisters Debbie (Paul) Shannon and Linda (Ken) Overacker; her bestie Kathy Borst; and special Aunt Bert Cunningham. She is survived by several nieces and nephews as well.
In addition to her parents, Vicki was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Mike Miethe and her step-mother, Doris Cunningham.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home’s Urbas Chapel, located at 414 S. State Street, in Westville, Illinois. A funeral service celebrating Vicki’s life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery following services that day. A lunch reception to follow at the Tilton Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Vicki’s honor.
