Victor J. Tarquini 'Vic'

Victor J. Tarquini "Vic" passed away at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 in Danville, IL. Vic was born on June 16, 1930 to Dondalo and Angelina Tarquini in Woodbridge, Connecticut.

Vic is survived by his half-brother Tom Dugatto and half-sisters Gerry Mastangelo and Chris Mentone, daughter Terri (Bob) Wiese, son Brad (Tracy) Tarquini, daughter-in-law, Jan Tarquini, grandchildren Jared Tarquini, Rob (Ashley) Wiese, Andrea Tarquini, Chelsea (Matt) Noble, Michelle (Zack) Wiese, Tyler Tarquini and four great grandchildren; Jacob and Emma Oo, Serenity Patterson and Ryan Noble.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Fran, half-brother, "Uncle Junie", son, Lew and many magic friends.

Vic lived his early childhood in Italy until WW2 began. He and his mother, being as she was an American citizen, chose to move back to the United States for a safer life. His father was not a U.S. citizen and was forced to stay in Italy; this was unfortunately the last time that Vic ever saw his father at the age of eight.

He grew up in Woodbridge, CT, where his mother remarried Erminio Dugatto and started a family with him and his sons and daughters. At age seventeen Vic joined the U.S. Air force (1948) where he served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant working on aircraft in the 51st Fighter Interceptor Group. He completed his basic training at the Chanute Air Force Base which brought him to the Midwest for the first time.

After his service in Korea, Vic was sent back to the Chanute location for additional training. It was during this time on the weekends that all of the guys would travel to Danville to hang out at the night clubs. On one particular visit to the local clubs he met a beautiful young lady named Frances "Fran" Kraemer. Just three months later they married at the Chanute Air Force Base, December 19th, 1953.

Vic was then transferred to Sacramento, CA where him and Fran had their first child Lewis (Lewie) Tarquini. After his active duty of "7 years 42 days 3 hours 10 minutes & 30 seconds," Vic received an honorable discharge and moved back to the Danville area.

After moving back, Vic received a job at the Chanute Air Force Base in the training device sector (1955). He continued to work his way up in command and acquired the title of Technical Engineer and happily retired in July of 1985 after 30 years of civil service.

Upon retiring, Vic went to work with his wife Fran in her upholstery business which they owned and operated for over 25 years until Frans illness and passing. During these years, Vic and Fran traveled the world and spent much time with their many friends at the American Legion Post 210 and the Danville Boat Club.

Vic was also an amateur magician for many years. He and his special friend Shag Shadley entertained many people around the area. For years Vic, Shag, Jim Cunduff & Dave Madden would attend a magic convention at Colon, Michigan. Dave (acting as their manager) billed "JIM, VIC & SHAG" as the "Worlds Biggest Magic Duo." With all the posters and hype, the magic society actually thought they were a world class act!

Above all, the family would like to thank all of the many many friends that supported the Tarquini family throughout Vics life, celebrating all of the good times with get-togethers and parties and even through the difficult times. Vic was the soul mate to Fran, a man who always seemed to keep his cool with a heart of gold and a smile on this face. Vic never met a stranger and will be greatly missed.
