Victor H. Hix, 77, of Danville, went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2012. Born December 27, 1934 in Tilton, IL to Vernon C. Hix Sr. and Thelma (Summers) Hix. Victor attended Danville schools and was a graduate of Danville Area Community College; he later went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps with the E-2-11 1st Marine Division, during the Korean War. Victor retired after 25 years from the Consumers Illinois Water Company in Kankakee, IL. Victor was a member of the first United Methodist Church in Danville, IL; he was also a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League, First marine Division Association, DAV, Korean War Veterans Association, American Legion Post 85 in Kankakee, IL; Vermilion County War Museum and Marine Corps Association. Victor was active until the last few years with the Toys for Tots Drive. Victor had over 4600 hours of volunteer services at the V.A. in Danville. He also had over 1000 hours of volunteer services at the Vermilion County War Museum, where he served on the Board of Directors. Victor loved cats, standard breed horses and was a lifetime Republican. Survivors include one son, Daniel Mark Varner of Newark, Delaware, three grandchildren, three brothers- Vernon C. (Linda) Hix Jr., Richard J. (Marilyn) Hix and Gary W. (Cathy) Hix, three sisters- Nancy C. Koss, Betty R. White and Susan K. Hix as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of close friends and family members. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- William G. Hix and Bob Summers, two sisters- infant Diane Hix and Beverly Jean Bryant. Once a Marine, Always a Marine..Semper Fi. A visitation for Victor will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Graveside services and burial will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Victor's name in lieu of flowers to Toys for Tots.
