Vicky Uplinger, 69, of Cayuga passed away on February 3, 2026 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born on August 28, 1956, in Clinton, Indiana to the late Robert “Bob” and Mary {Holycross} Norman. Vicky met and married the love of her life, Gerald Uplinger, and the two would go on to spend over half a century together making wonderful memories.
Vicky dedicated over 20 years of her life to her career as a seamstress at what was once Medline. Following her tenure there, she embraced a new chapter at the VA, serving as a seamstress for an additional 12 years. In addition to her primary work, she steadfastly held a second job at the Beef House for over 25 years, showcasing her strong work ethic and dedication to providing for those around her.
Her friends and colleagues remember Vicky not only for her professional talents but also for her generous personality. With a big heart, she was known to give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Vicky had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome; she never met a stranger and quickly became a friend to those fortunate enough to cross her path. She found joy in napping, reading and indulging in crime shows, which provided her both entertainment and a way to unwind from her busy life. She also enjoyed traveling and looked forward to experiencing new locations with the people she loved.
Vicky is survived by her husband, Gerald; their daughters Alisha Uplinger, Johnnie (Joshua) Fitzwater, and Brandi Uplinger; and her grandchildren Adam Wesley, Kayleb (Rachel) Stephens, Kyler (Matticin) Stephens, Jace Anderson, Devan Uplinger, Logan Pezan, Waylon Fitzwater, Khloey Laster, Kaitlin Uplinger, and Colt Uplinger. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Atley Stephens; her brothers, Rick (Sharon) Norman and Randy (Jeri) Norman; and her aunt Martha Perkins. She is survived by several nieces and nephews as well.
A visitation will be held from 10 am – 12 pm EST on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home’s DeVerter Chapel, located at 215 N. Division Street in Cayuga, Indiana. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon, also at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Hughes Cemetery following services that day.
