Vicki L. Johnson, 76, lifetime resident of Hoopeston, passed away on October 4, 2026 at Heritage Healthcare in Hoopeston. She was born in Danville on August 5, 1950, a daughter of Helen {Webb} and Wilford Compton. She attended Hoopeston High School and worked at Stokley’s Canning for many years before changing careers to provide financial assistance at Carle Healthcare, where she continued to serve others until her retirement.
Outside of work, Vicki found her greatest happiness in being with her family. She especially loved watching her grandchildren and made it a priority to never miss one of their sporting events. She treasured taking them on family outings to Indiana Beach & to Downtown Chicago on the train, creating many memories that will be held close for years to come. Her home was often a gathering place, and she looked forward to hosting family dinners, decorating for the occasion, and making everyone feel welcome. Vicki also enjoyed the everyday pleasures. She loved baking and cooking, spending time playing cards with her friends, and tending to her flowers and chickens.
In addition to her parents, Vicki was preceded in death by her sister Charlene Young.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Shawn) Tuggle; her grandchildren, Bryce (Landon) Lawrence, Brea (Nick) Catlin, Sophi (Ben Brown) Tuggle, and Cy Tuggle; as well as her great-grandchildren Brinlee Lou Lawrence, Lainee Lawrence, Brooks Lawrence, Clara Catlin, and Fynn Catlin. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her newest great-grandchild, Bowen Brown. She will also be missed by her sisters, Teresa (Mike) Dean and Linda Atterberry; her brother Steve (Verna) Compton; and close friends Jeremy & Megan Deck, Ginger Grant, Minerva & Eddie Reyna.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her nieces for the wonderful care provided to Vicki at Heritage Health during her final days.
Per Vicki’s wishes, cremation will take place with a graveside service at 10 am on Tuesday, November 24, 2026 at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
