Veronica Holycross

Veronica Mary Holycross, 94, of Danville, died on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in So. Elgin, IL. She was born February 25, 1924, in Danville, IL, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Greic. She married Harold Holycross on November 22, 1945, at St. Patrick's Church, in Danville. She is survived by two sons, Ron of Denver, and John (Rhonda) of Elgin, IL; three sisters, Martha White and Johanna Potter of Danville, Genevieve Pierce of Bruceville, IN; three grandchildren, Lee (Susan), Kenton, and Sarah (Christopher) Petty, and two great-grandchildren, Tessa Petty and Lila Holycross. Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, one sister (Dorothy) and two brothers (Felix, Charles). She worked at Chuckles Candy for several years and in St. Mary's Catholic School cafeteria. Veronica was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville, American Legion Post #51, and loved her monthly CRIS activities. She enjoyed bowling, mowing her 3-acre yard until age 91, but especially being with her grandchildren and great-grandbabies! A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church 231 N State Street Westville, IL on Friday July 27, 2018 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to mass. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Veronica's name to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
