Mansfield - Vernon "Butch" Kemplin (93) was born in 1931 on Christmas Day and passed peacefully on September 23rd. A self-taught golfer had two holes in one at Woodlawn Country Club. He was a Navy man right out of high school and retired from the Post Office as a rural mail carrier. Butch was known to hum, sing, and whistle old standards. He was an avid record collector and was known to play Christmas music year-round. Butch was often jotting down his creative golf tips, recipes, poems, and stories. He is survived by wife and favorite girl Margaret Bateman Kemplin; children and their families, Kevin Kemplin, Julie (John) Pagels, Kelly Hoffmann, and Randy (Susan) Kemplin. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
There will not be any services held for Vernon.
Cremation arrangements have been made at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Champaign Chapel 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL. 61820.
